The long-awaited refresh of the Silverado is set to expand the appeal of Chevrolet’s signature pickup. Already known as a rugged and adaptable workhorse, it now features a greater range of infotainment tech and a suave new interior. With more style to match its substance, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 is sure to delight loyal customers and win new fans.

Initially introduced in 2019, the fourth-generation Silverado has always been known for its formidable horsepower and towing capabilities. With four potent powertrain options, this full-size pickup truck can come equipped with the 2.7l turbo engine, 5.3l or 6.2l Ecotec V8 engines, or the 3.0l Duramax diesel engine with its impressive fuel economy. This versatility extends to other aspects of the Silverado’s build.

It can be configured with a single cab, double cab, or crew cab, and with a long, standard, or short bed. It also offers a choice between 8 and 10-speed transmission, rear or all-wheel drives, and eight trims, from the base model Work Truck, through the Custom, LT, Custom Trail Boss, RST, LTZ, and LT Trail Boss, to the luxurious High Country.

What’s New in 2022

The 2022 refresh has seen the introduction of a new trim. The ZR2 is configured with the latest off-roading tech, such as Multimatic DSSV dampers and 33-inch off-road MT tires. In addition, existing models have been revamped to make the Silverado a more stylish, comfortable, and powerful ride.

Updated Looks

The front end of the Silverado has seen a redesign, with a new front fascia and lower headlights to emphasize the strength and stability of the truck. And the exterior now comes in three new available colors: Sand Dune, Dark Ash, and Glacier Blue Metallic.

The interior of the LT trim and above has also been redesigned, with sweeping horizontal lines to give the cab a greater sense of space. There are two new interior colors to choose from, with Jet Black/Graystone for the ZR2 trim level and Jet Black/Nightshift Blue for the High Country.

Additional Torque

When the Chevy Silverado LTD was introduced in 2022, it featured enhancements to the block casting and crankshaft that significantly increased the torque. The 2.7l turbo engine saw a 20% increase and now produces 420 pound-feet. This made Chevrolet the leader for in-class base engine torque, as this year also saw the 2.7l turbo fitted in the Work Truck model as standard.

The latest refresh saw a 30% increase on the towing capabilities of the 3.0l Duramax diesel engine. This can now haul up to 13,300 pounds with a two-wheel drive, thanks to improvements to the chassis.

Enhanced Tech

All trims with the remodeled interior are fitted with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 13.4-inch touchscreen. With a fluid connection between the system and smartphones, drivers can use the embedded Google services as well as Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Chevy Safety Assist, a package of six high-tech active safety features, is now standard for all trims. There are new trailering safety options available, and the High Country trim can now be purchased with Super Cruise driver-assistance technology.
